Anti-terrorism detectives are pursuing three accomplices of wanted terror suspect Hussein Said Omar aka Babley who was gunned down on Friday in Bamburi, Mombasa county.

According to police reports, Babley engaged security personnel in a shootout from his hideout in Bamburi before he was overpowered.

Police says Babley is an Al Shabaab member who has been on the run since 2015.

“He is the logistic’s person for the AS militia operating in Boni and who are behind the killing of innocent Kenyans in Mwalei, Pandanguo and Milihoi.” said Coast Regional Commandant Larry Kieng

Police says Babley is believed to behind a series of terrorist attacks in 2016 that targeted  security agents in Mombasa county.

He was said to be a close associate of another slain terror suspect Ismael Shosi who was killed when police raided his rental house in Kisauni’s Mwandoni area, Mombasa on September, 2016.

Babley is brother to another terrorist who is also on the run by the name Dogo operating from Boni forest.

Addressing the media on Saturday, Kieng said the three escaped during the operation mounted by a special unit of ATPU detectives.
